Our story of translation

Power Translate is the world's first PBIX translation application. Analytics made by Power BI users are distributed all over the world, which requires translation into other languages. We also had such a problem, so the work we did manually to translate the analytics was automated, and this is how our tool was created.

Manually translation: 2 - 4 hours per 1 language (5-6 pages)

Power Translate

Get familiar with a tool that will help you translate display elements (such as titles, headers, name of measures) placed in the Power BI created reports. Display elements are NOT translated automatically in Power BI. Users usually find this process time-consuming and tedious, and it is easy to miss something.

Automating this process by using the Power Translate tool will reduce the translation time as well as the risk of mistranslating anything, and consequently, it will increase your work comfort.

Don't worry about the security of your data. Power Translate processes

only .pbit file which is a template of your report. The tool does not store or process any data contained in the submitted reports.

Power Translate

It's really simple to use Power Translate. This app provides two types of translations – automatic and manual. The biggest advantage of automatic translation is its instant completion, while the manual translation option, thanks to the possibility of changing the translated phrases, allows you to obtain the best quality translations.

The following elements are not translated: data, measures, calculation columns, graphic elements. If the title of the visualization is a dynamic title, it will not be translated as well. This is because the text is taken from the specified measures and the tool does not translate the data. Likewise, no text fields will be translated where the text comes from measures (dynamic).

To translate the report automatically, all you need to do is to import your .pbit file and indicate relevant languages. When you click on the Translate report button, you will get a translated .pbit file.

When you click on the Translate manually button, a new section opens where you can make changes to the translated phrases. To translate a report manually, you need to import your .xls file with the phrases previously translated and exported from the .pbit file. If you do not have a file with exported phrases from the report, you can download it by clicking on the Export option. This option provides two possibilities:

Export with automatic translation — as a result you will receive an .xls file with exported phrases from the report and their translations into the selected language.
